O.K. I’m doing it!!
I know this is going to be so easy and fun once I get started and practice, but right at this moment I am completely overwhelmed.
Thanks for getting me started
Liz
Hooray! Liz did it! So can you!
thanks, Beth! i’m overwhelmed too, but as with everything ya start getting it after a while! will Sid post some of the photos and will the notes from the class be here at some point? it was so good meeting everyone and getting tuned up for new directions. excited about those first sales! thank you to all for all the thoughtful input and big hugs to Oren and Rick for their wonderful work with us all!
Wow…..this really works!
Thanks all for an incredible weekend, I am still living it all night long. If you are the kids what are Oren and I??
You are our guides? our shepards?
Well, anyway…..I’m just figuring this blog thing out.
I’m allowing myself time to process all that went on this weekend – a powerful combination of information and inspiration. I bought a Vogue magazine on my way home – a step towards my goal. Just a question about dates -Is April 12 – a Saturday – a correct date? I thought that we were meeting on Monday mornings.
Hi all! Thanks Beth for setting this up. What a great weekend full of inspiration! I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone. Special thanks to Oren and Rick for their keen insights and observations!
Thank you Rick and Oren and Beth for an very motivating weekend and for the almond cookies. This blog is so exciting. What an easy way to keep in touch with everyone!
Shy Guy Dan here, counting on the “distance” of this blog “thing” to say outrageous things! This seems relatively pain-free for a virgin user! No, seriously, like Bonnie says, I’m still processing all the emotions and feelings the weekend brought up. I have already re-written my “elevator speech” which I’ll be sharing soon for feedback, etc. Ditto on the Saturday meeting! Thought they were all Mondays??!! Need an answer ASAP since I have to get off work. Rick, If I’m a “kid” I guess that makes you and Oren my artistic godfathers! All for now. Hope this is enuf to stay off Beth’s hit list!! Just kidding. You know we love ya Beth!
Hey Beth! When I go to open the PDF it dumps into Photoshop! Is there a setting change — something I can do so I can download the whole document at once? Thanks.
Hi Beth, Rick, Oren
Thanks for a great weekend and what an inspiring group of artists. Good to meet you all.
Went straight from the workshop to Trees Place to look at frames – but they were closed! Still, I’m not deterred.
Never used a bookmark in my life, only favorites. Tried importing into bookmarks but Verizon message popped up asking for my password and of course I have no idea what it is!
What I know about computers is dangerous and in the near future I’m going to transfer my earthlink email address from my desktop to my laptop so I’ll probably lose everything!
I’ll get there – like painting, persistence is what it’s all about.
Happy Days
Stephen
Awesome notes, Beth! I don’t know how you did that! Thank you. And sure, I’d like my web site attached to the links, whatever that is. I guess I’ll find out.
Hey Stephen,
Bookmarking is the same as favorites. Just save it to favorites like you normally would.
Beth
Dan,
I can’t think what is happening. Maybe try going into whatever folder you have the PDF stored in (My Docs, Desktop, wherever it is saved), right-click on it, and choose Open In… Adobe Reader. If you don’t have Adobe Reader, you can download it here http://snurl.com/20ver.
See if that works.
Beth
Thanks Beth. I don’t seem to have “Open In… Adobe Reader” so I put in a WO to the IT dept. to see if they can fix it. Is 4/12 correct for our April meeting?
Dan:-)
Dan,
See post to the effect that it was a typo, and should have read April 21. http://snurl.com/20voj
Okay, Just got home and opened all this up, but I signed in as millgirl, don’t ask me why I didn’t use my own name!
Beth can it be changed?
I left a comment on a different post first.
Oh well, I’ll get it soon enough.
Dona
Dona,
Sure it can be changed. Just change the info on your profile. Use the information here to change stuff on your profile: http://snurl.com/20w7b

I had an incredible experience today and I wish all of you had been there with me. I went on a photo assignment with my husband to photograph Edward Hoppers house in Truro. I stood in his studio, saw his easel with lots of blue and white paint on it, and looked out the same window he painted from. Two of his hats hang from the easel. The light had a clarity to it that I can not describe. The space was tiny. The studio the largest room. A kitchen, bathroom, 1 bedroom and the studio. It was filled light and the outdoors. All you could ever need. Perfect in it’s simplicity. I was thinking how much you all would have loved it.
My head is so full of the weekend and now this.
Holly
Good Morning Beth,
Did I do something wrong? Yesterday I had Earthlink transfer my email program from my desktop (getting too old & slow) to my laptop.
Today when I tried to log in to newmarkets08 on my laptop it wouldn’t recognize the password I had stored at set-up on my desktop and I got a comment that it wasn’t the same as Windows had and asked me if I wanted to change it. I said yes, put in the same password as original and got logged in.
Now I see in the comments list:
New post StephenKnight: Hello World
New page StephenKnight: About
Comment StephenKnight: Mr WordPress on Hello World
Did I go down a wrong road? Is this normal?
Sorry to be such a pain, maybe I should concentrate on painting and send all messages out by carrier pigeons!
Have a good day everyone
Cheers
Stephen
Hi Beth
Still trying to understand how to use a blog. My last message about my password problems went out as a reply to your original “So this is a blog message”
How does one send a new comment as opposed to a reply?
Doubtless there’s a simple process but as usual I haven’t found it
Thanks
Stephen
Good morning fellow blogees! First I want to thank everyone again for the affirmation I received and for the objective criticism of my “persona”. I have been working on “re-claiming” my “me” for a few years and your RUTHLESS analysis has really helped me to re-focus on the work I still have to do and think about and put in their context all the “whys”. The good news is that I have a “public” persona that I can tap into to help overcome and cope with my fears. If any/all of you would be so kind as to read my new “elevator” and “history” and comment, I would be most appreciative. I know the elevator is a bit long, but I really want to say these things about my work.
Elevator:
Hi! I’m Dan and I paint contemporary, luminous, atmospheric landscapes that evoke an emotional sense of place rather than a literal one. I capture moments when the light creates a contemplative and reflective mood that compels the viewer to linger.
History:
Dan is a painter of contemporary, luminous, atmospheric landscapes who lives and works on Cape Cod. He has had two solo exhibits of his work at the Brewster Ladies Library in 2006 and 2007. Trained at Parsons School of Design, he currently chairs the Fine & Performing Arts Department at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, sits on the Advisory Board of the Cape Cod & Islands Art educators association, and teaches at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. he has also presented workshops at three National Art education Association conferences in Boston, Chicago and New york City.

I made sure there are NO qualifiers and that I am not attempting to try to look more accomplished as a painter (since it is NEW to me) than I am, but provides some insight into my professional background and experience. I know you’ll let me know!! THANKS in advance. Have a great day!!!
Dan:-)
Hey Dan,
I think your elevator speech is great! If I had to say the word ‘contemplative’ out loud, I think I would trip over it every time! It’s a really good word to describe your beautiful work but can you speak it easily? I love the ending about compelling the viewer to linger. That’s sounds really perfect to me.
History is really well written. Bravo, I say.
I am planning to call the gallery in Chatham today. What do you think?
Hey Deb,
Go for it! I’m ready to put myself out there and the only way to start is to start! Thanks to years of speaking in front of kids and colleagues (and a Masters in English), I believe I can indeed say that word trippingly on the tongue!! I’ll let you know! Thanks for the support!
D:-)
I saved this on my desktop and it looks like no one’s written since the 4th….because it needs to get connected to the internet?
sending info on shipping supplies, the website people-(where your site is called www. yourname.com think that’s really impt!) and um seems like there were a few other things… later in the day when i get it all together.
how is everyone?
started sending emails with attached low res. images, (which come out in the text area and as attachment), web link (having given everything a good tweak and update of new work) and calling about 5-6 interior decorators and a headhunter friend artlover in boston. figure i’ll do a little each day while i get photos organized for a booklet to be printed…tho should probably see what info there is to be had with the What’s Your Storey gig in april….
but i want it to happen now!
